1. FEW/ A FEW – LITTLE/ A LITTLE
* FEW/ A FEW + Danh từ ĐẾM ĐƯỢC SỐ NHIỀU
A few: có 1 ít đủ để làm gì!
I enjoys my life here. I have a few friends and we meet quite often. (tôi thích cuộc sống ở đây, tôi có vài người bạn và chúng tôi gặp nhau khá thường xuyên.
Few: có vài nhưng rất ít, quá ít coi như không, không đủ làm gì (có tính phủ định)
I have few books, not enough for reading. (tôi có quá ít sách không đủ để đọc)
* LITTLE/ A LITTLE + Danh từ KHÔNG đếm được
A little: có 1 chút đủ để làm gi.
I have a little money enough to buy a ticket.
Little: có rất ít, quá ít, coi như không, không đủ để làm gì (mang tính phủ định)
I have little money not enough to buy ticket.
2. MOST/ MOST OF/ ALMOST
* MOST(đại từ, tính từ) + DANH TỪ không xác định (đếm được số nhiều/không đếm được): hầu hết
VD: Most students study lazily (hầu hết học sinh lười học)
* MOST OF: hầu hết (đi với danh từ xác định)
- MOST + OF + MẠO TỪ + DANH TỪ
VD: Most of my/the students are poor (hầu hết học sinh của tôi thì nghèo)
- MOST + OF + US/ YOU/ THEM (ĐẠI TỪ)
VD: Most of them died in the battle (Hầu hết bọn họ đều chết trong cuộc chiến)
*** NOTE: Nhìn đằng sau:
+ Có MẠO TỪ + N ==> Chọn MOST OF luôn
+ Không có MẠO TỪ ==> Chọn MOST vì MOST(đại từ, tính từ) + DANH TỪ (đếm được số nhiều/không đếm được)
* ALMOST – trạng từ: gần (như), hầu (như)
- ALMOST: gần như + TÍNH TỪ/ ĐỘNG TỪ/ TRẠNG TỪ
VD: That tool is almost useless.(Cái dụng cụ đó thì gần như vô dụng)
- ALMOST ALL OF/HALF OF + MẠO TỪ + DANH TỪ: gần như tất cả:
VD: Almost all of the plans are impractical (gần như tất cả các kế hoạch đều phi thực tế)
- ALMOST EVERYONE (EVERYBODY)/ EVERYTHING/ NO ONE/ NOTHING…: gần như tất cả mọi người/ mọi thứ/ gần như không có ai/ không có gì.
VD: Almost everyone in her family has blonde hair (gần như tất cả mọi người trong gia đình nó có tóc vàng hoe)
*** NOTE:
- ALMOST + TÍNH TỪ/ ĐỘNG TỪ/ TRẠNG TỪ
- Almost chỉ đi được với: Almost all of/half of/everyone/people…
==> Nhìn đằng sau chỗ trống mà là all of/half of/…
==> Chọn ngay ALMOST
3. SOME/ANY
* SOME/(SOME OF + MẠO TỪ) + Danh từ đếm được số nhiều và không đếm được – thường dùng trong câu KHẲNG ĐỊNH.
* ANY + Danh từ đếm được số nhiều và không đếm được – thường dùng trong câu PHỦ ĐỊNH và CÂU HỎI.
* NOTE:
- SOME dùng trong câu HỎI nếu nó là LỜI MỜI
VD: Would you like some coffee? (Bà có muốn uống chút cà phê không ?)
- ANY dùng trong câu KHẲNG ĐỊNH nếu nó mang nghĩa “BẤT KỲ” (Trước N đếm được số ít)
VD: You can choose any house in the catalogue to buy. (bạn có thể chọn bất kỳ ngôi nhà nào trong ca-ta-lô để mua)
4. MANY/MUCH
* MANY + Danh từ đếm được số nhiều
* MUCH: + Danh từ không đếm được
5. ALL + N (Đếm được SỐ NHIỀU)
6. Each/Every + N (Đếm được SỐ ÍT)
7. ONE ANOTHER/ EACH OTHER: nhau
Hai từ này đều dùng để nói về một người khác trong một nhóm, nhưng “one another” dành cho nhóm 3 người trở lên, còn “each another” dành cho nhóm chỉ có 2 người.
VD:
- People are jealous watching the couple taking care of each another.
=> Người ta ghen tị khi nhìn đôi vợ chồng quan tâm tới nhau.
- The group members always help one another in every activities.
8. THE (OTHER(S))/ANOTHER
*** THAY THẾ CHO DANH TỪ (Cái khác/người khác) ***
+ The other: Thay thế cho N XÁC ĐỊNH SỐ ÍT
+ The others: Thay thế cho N XÁC ĐỊNH SỐ NHIỀU
+ Others: Thay thế cho N KHÔNG XÁC ĐỊNH SỐ NHIỀU
+ Another: Thay thế cho N KHÔNG XÁC ĐỊNH SỐ ÍT
*** ĐỨNG TRƯỚC DANH TỪ ***
+ Another + N đếm đước số ít
+ Other + N đếm được số nhiều/ N không đếm được

B. CÁCH LÀM BÀI TẬP PHẦN NÀY
**** Bước 1. Khi có ONE chọn THE OTHER và khi có OTHER chọn ONE khi đã xác định trước 2 cái rồi.
VD:We have the two proposals, ONE is simply too complicated, while …... is too easy
A. One another

==> Khi nhìn thấy ONE mà xác định 2 cái rồi “the two proposals” ==> Chọn này THE OTHER và NGƯỢC LẠI
**** Bước 2: Nhìn đằng sau chỗ trống trước
==> Nếu có N chỉ được chọn 2 cái là:
+ Another + N đếm đước số ít
+ Other + N đếm được số nhiều/ N không đếm được
==> Nếu không có N loại ngay OTHER
**** Bước 3. Trong đáp án mà có ONE ANOTHER/ EACH OTHER: với nhau ==> Dịch ==> Nghĩa OK chọn luôn
